FAQs Can I still order a test kit if I missed the April 30th deadline? Unfortunately we are unable to provide you with a free test kit this year. Please let us know that you are interested and we will be sure to contact you about participating next year. Alternately, kits are available for purchase for $10 per kit plus the cost of shipping (around $7). Kits can be purchased by emailing info@alms.ca. Can I reuse the water quality test I received last year? Yes. Test kits can be used again. Be sure to check the expiry date on the back of the TesTabs used for pH and dissolved oxygen. If you are out of some tests, you can order these individually within our registration system. Can I reuse my test kit even if I didn’t register to participate this year? Yes. You may still participate by entering your results using your user name and password from last year. If your user name and password from last year are not working, please contact us. May I share someone else’s test kit with them? Yes. Please remember that you still need to enter your findings at http://www.awqa.ca. In order to enter your findings you will need to register online to participate in AWQA Day 2009. What does AWQA Day sampling entail? Are there specific sampling protocols to follow? The AWQA Day test kits are easy to use and contain basic instructions for sampling. Additional information and field guides are available on this site under AWQA Day Participants. Can I test my tap water or groundwater well? The AWQA Day program focuses on the health of surface waterbodies, therefore groundwater and drinking water testing is not included. Can I sample more than one waterbody with the test kit provided? Yes. Each kit can test up to 10 samples. Get out and sample as many waterbodies as possible. Keep in mind that each site must be entered separately on the data entry page. Be sure to record your results and site location on a field sheet. Can I sample more than one site on the same waterbody? Yes. Feel free to test multiple sites along a stream/river/creek or at several locations on a lake. Keep in mind that each site must be submitted to the database together with the water quality test kit results. Is AWQA Day looking for additional funding partners? Yes. If your organization is interested in providing financial support for the continuation of this program, please contact us. Have a question not covered here? Feel free to send us an E-mail or give us a call. |
