Gearing Up for AWQA Day 2012!

Your test kit has arrived in the mail and you are eager to get out there and start exploring the water quality in your watershed!  What should you do next?

Here are some valuable tips to help ensure your AWQA Day testing runs as safely and fluidly as possible.

1. Choose one or more streams, lakes, rivers, wetlands, reservoirs or other surface waterbodies to collect samples and test the water quality from.
 
2. Read through the safety information provided in your test kit.  Additional safety information (PDF)
Before you head out make sure that you also check the:
Weather Forecast
Flood Advisories

Additional information about the flow rate and water levels in your basin
 
3. Get outside and have fun testing the waterbody(ies) of your choice.  AWQA Day testing can be done anytime between May 1st and August 31st!  

Quick Tip: Remember to record the location and water quality results for each of your sampling sites. You can record your results on the field data sheets provided in the AWQA Day Field Guide and Data Sheets booklet.

4.   Post your results by September 15th to share with others.

  **Everyone who submits their results will be eligible to win great prizes!

 
5.   Complete the on-line AWQA Day survey and provide feedback on your experience with the program.  Access the survey by clicking “Enter Data” and logging in with your username and password.
 
 ** Everyone who completes an AWQA Day Survey by September 15th is eligible to win fabulous prizes!
